Barbara Palvin was born in Budapest. She stated that singing and football were her hobbies at an early age.

Palvin was discovered on the streets of Budapest in 2006, when he was 13 years old. His first photo shoot was for "Spur Magazine" that year. She immediately moved to Asia and continued her modeling career there. She has since appeared on the covers of L'Officiel, Vogue Russia, Glamor Hungary and Jalouse Magazine, and has modeled for brands such as Armani Exchange, HM, Victoria's Secret, Pull and Bear and Mavi. In February 2012, she became the ambassador of L'Oreal Paris.

British Vogue editor Miranda Almond said of her, "We chose her because she's definitely a slender beauty, a cross between a young Brooke Shields and Natalia Vodianova." he said. She stated she vodianova and Kate Moss as her favorite models.
