Black Friday is used in the US for the first Friday after Thanksgiving. Well, according to US citizens, why do they call Friday, which comes after a holy day, black? After all, Black Friday causes some negativity to come to life in the mind.

The reason for this situation is extremely simple. In fact, Black Friday didn't have any name at first. The Friday, which has been considered the beginning of the Christmas shopping season since 1932, began to be known as Black Friday after 1961.

Normally on the Friday after Thanksgiving, grocery stores in the US open their shutters early and continue to serve their customers until late. It's always been like this. But later on, discount campaigns started to be added to this intense working tempo.

With the introduction of discount campaigns, the demand for shopping has also increased. This increase in demand has started to cause the Fridays after Thanksgiving to be extremely busy. So much so that in 1961, people in Philadelphia were unable to take a step because of the intensity.

That year, when vehicles could not move from their places due to traffic and people were crushing each other because of the density, this event began to be called Black Friday.
