Chip 'n' Dale

Chip 'n' Dale is the common name for two animated squirrels created by The Walt Disney Company. They get their name from a pun that emerged from the name Thomas Chippendale. The idea was suggested by a short story artist, a studio employee named Bill "Tex" Henson. In fact, the two squirrels originally had the same colored noses, but to distinguish them, Chip was given a black nose and Dale was given a red nose.

According to Disney, Chip was given a small black nose and Dale was given a large red nose and two split teeth for an easy way to visually tell the difference while Chip was a logical trickster and Dale a low-spirited person. Chip and Dale can also be distinguished from their different fur coats.
