About Elon Musk
Elon Musk was born on June 28, 1971, in South Africa. Having a curious nature, Musk managed to design games at the age of 12 with the coding language he learned on his own. He sold the game he developed, called Blastat, for $500.
After his education in Canada in 1992, Elon Musk went to the University of Pennsylvania, where he started to study business and physics. He completed his education in the field of
economics and did a minor in physics. He later moved to California's Silicon Valley region to pursue a PhD in Applied Physics and Materials Science, but did not complete his PhD.
With his undergraduate education and inspiration from innovators such as Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Walt Disney, Musk identified three areas that he wanted to enter "consisting of the problems that will most affect the future of humanity". These areas were the internet, clean energy and space.
Musk earned a PhD in applied physics and materials science from Stanford in 1995. But two days later, he dropped out with his brother Kimbal Musk to start the Zip2 project, an online content publishing software for new organizations. In 1999, Compaq's AltaVista unit purchased Zip2 for $307 million in cash and $34 million in stock.
