On the subject of “What is a light bulb”, almost all of us have told our parents that they used to light their homes with gas lamps and candles. Even though the light emitted by gas lamps seems quite insufficient for us nowadays, they say that they are used to this light. However, today, the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to lighting is undoubtedly the light bulb.

Although the first information we learned on this subject in primary school was that the light bulb was invented by Edison in the last quarter of the 19th century, the Edison-Tesla debates about who the real inventor was today continue unabated.

Let alone the issue of who actually discovered the light bulb, the important thing for us is the place of the light bulb among the lighting technologies.
