Pig is the general name given to animals in the genus Sus. The genus Sus belongs to the family Suidae. The pig, which is a mammalian species, originates from Eurasia. Pigs, which are omnivores, are both herbivores and carnivores. It has been domesticated by humans and used as farm animals. Also, their hard bristles are traditionally used in brushes. Pigs are generally trainable, tamable animals, so some are kept as pets. Pigs that give birth to about 6-12 puppies at a time can eat their own young in captivity. Pigs do not have sweat glands, so they need constant access to water or mud to keep themselves cool in hot weather. They also use the mud to protect their skin from sunburn.
