Billiards is played on the table with a wooden stick called a cue and balls specially prepared for billiards. The pool table is covered with a cloth called broadcloth, which is specially designed to allow the balls to move smoothly. Pool tables are designed with different features according to game types such as American billiards and 3-ball. Since American billiards is played on the basis of scoring points by putting the balls into the holes, there are 6 different pockets in which the balls can pass on the tables special to this genre. Classic billiards, known as 3-ball or 4-ball, are played with the principle of scoring by hitting the balls together, so there are no ball pockets on the tables designed for this type.
