The terminology related to printmaking in Europe was developed based on 19th century France. Print artists accept the European tradition; They adopted the understanding of being responsible for all production stages such as the concept of printing, mold and reproduction processes, and printing, and brought this understanding to the present day. By the 1960s, the interest in print works began to increase in the international art market and a visible movement in the print painting market became palpable. With the development of technology in the second half of the twentieth century, many debates arose about the ethics of printmaking. Printing historian Felix Brunner, in his book “Manuel de la Gravure” published in 1964, said that printing is a handicraft. What is decisive, according to Brunner, is that the artist himself has worked on it, whether on engraving plate or lithographic stone, otherwise the print will ultimately not qualify as original. After the printmaking artist prepares the printing plate (stamps) himself, he can give the printing works to the technicians and print them under his own control.
