Salt is an essential nutrient for the human body to maintain its functions.

Along with protein, fat, carbohydrates and water, there are ions such as calcium, phosphorus, sodium, chloride, potassium, sulfur and magnesium in our body. Of these, sodium, chloride, potassium and calcium ions provide the body's electrolyte balance. Since these ions are less or more than a certain value in the human body, it will disrupt the electrolyte balance and cause a number of disorders in the body. It is possible to find sodium and chloride, among the ions mentioned, together in salt.

Pure salt contains approximately 40% sodium and 60% chloride. A large part of the decreasing sodium and chloride need in the body for various reasons is provided by salt.

Salt is used in many sectors for industrial purposes as well as necessary for the human body to continue its functions. For example, it is used in food, textile, leather, chemistry, metallurgy sectors and animal husbandry.

Salt to be used for industrial purposes should also be free from foreign substances, clean, dry, pure and fluid.
