British soldiers, who saw that this game was played in India, which was a British colony at the time, took this game to England in 1860. The daughter of the Duke of Beaford of the time liked this game very much and wanted it to be played. This game, played for the first time in the Badminton Hall of Beaford Castle, takes its name from this hall where it was played for the first time.
