The appearance of tents on the stage of history is as old as humanity. Although people in the old stone age generally lived in caves, it is known that they also lived in tents in small groups. Early humans built the first tents using mammoth skin and bones. At that time, tents were used as a permanent living space apart from temporary accommodation. In other words, tents formed one of the first homes of humanity.

The earliest known example of such tents was found in Moldova. The tent found dates back to 40,000 BC. The size of these tents varies in the range of 8-20 m2. Between the tents, a distance of 1-20 m could be found depending on the terrain conditions.

Tents were used for many years by being built from leather and bones. As we approached the Iron Age, the tent skeleton was replaced by wood with the processing of wood and iron. Although the skeleton was made of wood at this time, leather continued to be used for its outer layer.

Mankind discovered agriculture and settled down into settled life, and tents gradually began to be replaced by structures made of clay and soil. However, tents have always continued to be used in nomadic societies.
