Unlike ski poles, hiking poles can be adjusted in length with a clip or screw system. The clip system is a locking system located on the outer surface of the baton. The advantage is that it is easy and fast to use and you can easily see that your poles are locked well. Screw tightening is a locking system inside the baton. Its application is more difficult to the clip system, but it is lighter.

Before starting to use, check that your poles are well locked. Those using a screw system should tighten the screw firmly; but it should be done without exaggeration. For example, if you use tools to tighten the screw of the baton, you may not be able to close it again. At the same time, keep the baton lengths balanced, do not cross the “stop” line; otherwise your baton may break during use.
