Marine mollusks, from which the
pearl is formed, have a hard shell on the outer surface. Various organisms living in the seas pass through this hard shell. Mother-of-pearl particles and grains of sand in shellfish mollusks are converted into pearls by microorganisms over time. Microorganisms leaking from the shells are perceived as foreign matter by the sea creature, and they want to be thrown back out. In this process, the outside of the sand particles or mother-of-pearl particles is covered with a mother-of-pearl-like substance. The substance has to be covered with this substance in order to be thrown out. This allows the formation of pearls in marine mollusks. While the pearl is formed inside the creature, this situation has no effect on the life of the creature.
